Thrillionaire Rules for Success
September 8th, 2009by Dr. Kenneth Atchity
1.) Toughen up. Your bucket list is the ultimate school you’ve enrolled in, because the rules are always changing and you’re making them. If it wasn’t tough everybody would be doing it.
2.) Because it’s a Recession, toughen up even more. The good news is that everyone is feeling it. Only the toughest will survive. What could be more exhilarating?
3.) Persist. Endure. Continue. Shaw wrote “Pygmalion” in his old age. Henry Miller didn’t start until his late forties. Dune was rejected 36 times!
4.) No is the front porch of Yes.
5.) Dream Big—there are fewer people at the highest altitudes.
6.) Redefine your inner circle: Associate with positive people, with successful Thrillionaires(SM). Stop associating with negative people. Be ruthless about this. Life is too short.
7.) There are no deadlines on your life’s quest except the ones you set for yourself.
8.) Follow your instincts.
9.) Don’t depend on luck or timing.
10.) Take responsibility. No magic thinking. “I never get personally involved in my own affairs”—an actress once told me. Wrong approach!
11.) Take charge of your own thinking. You can’t fail at being you so long as you focus and communicate it clearly.
12.) Let go of the wrong kind of control. Even the most successful people can’t control everything. Arthur C. Clarke said, “The mark of intelligence is not to resent the inevitable.”
13.) Figure out what you really want and start living as though you already have it. Form follows function. A client had gotten her wish: she’d been hired as a staff writer, but she was miserable. She’d forgotten to wish to be a staff writer on an intelligent series—now she was paying for her oversight.
14.) Congratulate yourself and celebrate. “Let’s drink a toast to folly & to dreams—they are the only reasonable things.”—Paul Loup-Sulitzer

Ken,
I agree wholeheartedly with your list, and #14 is a great motivator, isn’t it? “Congratulate youself and celebrate.” Don’t save the brandy for your
guests, serve it to yourself.
One of my favorite quotes is Samuel Johnson’s, “To be happy at home is
the ultimate result of all ambition.” Make sure your home is welcoming for YOU,
not just for company. It must be peaceful enough to allow dream-space and development.

If you want to walk on water you have to get out of the boat. A recession has a way of forcing us out of the boat or making us hide all huddled in the bottom of the but. It ultimately is a CHOICE. I choose to walk on water.

Excellent advice. All of us should take to heart Kenneth’s words and start accomplishing our dreams. We can have a copy of his 13 ideas or principles and read them often, especially when there is a lot of opposition whether that be internal or external. Thank you again

life is what we make it and depending on how you see things it can be recession or opportunity. I have long remembered these words from a poem learned in school. “There is a tide in the affairs of men which taken at the current leads on to victories ommitted all the rest of our lives on such a full sea are we now afloat and we must take the current when it serves or loose our ventures” .Sometimes it becomes necessary to take a chance and step outside our comfort zone to achieve the things we desire.

The recession on the positive side is a great opportunity for growth and creativity. As was said above:the tough will survive.Great times to really get to know what you are made off. Giving up is not an option.

A toast to folly and to dreams! That’s my toast to everyone in our loop.

Mark of strength is all about following reality of life and it’s challenges when ever it surfaces to those that recognises it.It is always perfect to join those that always make a different where ever they go no matter the working hassels, because life is full of differences and challenges.

Trying this one again — couldn’t login yesterday:
Well done! I’m currently reading “Resurrection” by Neville (on the recommendation of Rev. Ike,) so #13 is really speaking to me. What a visionary this man was — his description of experiencing 4th dimensional living is phenomenal!! Thanks for posting Dr. Atchity’s insights, Brandon
#9 Misconceptions on my lifelong “charmed life” and “dumb luck” partly inspired my moniker. The other was a penpal turned online buddy who had always wondered how to correctly pronounce my name (like the coin or the pasta.) When I was growing up (long before the Internet debuted,) it was always the spelling that tripped people up, so this was a new twist on an old theme! I used to collect pennies, now I pick up “lucky” quotes like this one:
Luck is when opportunity meets *inspired* action!
Thanks for the inspiration to take action, fellas
